Treatment of the mandibular joints

Treatment of the mandibular joints

Over 10% of adults in Germany suffer from painful disorders of the mandibular joints and mastication muscles.

The initial indications of this can be given by mandibular joint noises (clicking) or tension in the head and neck muscles. Symptoms such as tinnitus, dizziness and tension headaches can also be the result of a functional disorder. Even children and young people can show initial symptoms of a mandibular joint disorder. In 5% of cases, these will need treatment.

The correction of a dental malocclusion and jaw misalignment with the aim of recovering the mandibular joint function and its possible long-range effects on the entire musculoskeletal system make it necessary to cooperate with an interdisciplinary team of specialists.

We work closely with competent colleagues from radiology, orthopaedics, osteopathy, manual therapy, rheumatology, ENT medicine and other adjacent fields.
